Why Adware?

What purpose does it serve?

Adware is primarily used for three purposes:

1. Software developers/distributors/etc. are paid for attaching adware to their software,
2. Adware allows various forms of software to be freely downloaded by anyone, and
3. People with malicious intent, such as hackers, use adware and its counterparts to frustrate people.

Seriously, everyone knows how frustrating it can be to have adware on your computer. If you are have never had adware on your computer, consider yourself very lucky, for you are a member of a very small crowd. Also, if you are interested, just type and adware-affiliated query into your favorite search engine. While you will see a lot of pages of businesses trying to sell anti-adware products, you will likely see pages about people's frustration with it. Who knows, you might get a good chuckle out of it.
